Shenzhen stives to boost its independent inovation capabliy. The city has formulated plans to strengthen basic research and tackle key technical problems of 10 key components, such as chips and medical devices. Shenzhen has made great efforts to safeguard people's livelihood. A total of 109,00 new jobs were created in 2018,and the urban registered unemployment rate was less than 2.5 percent.
The development of education has been accelerated. Shenzhen has also taken the lead regarding the monioring resultsof national compulsory education qualityin the province.Four universities,including Shenzhen University and Southern University of Science and Technology, were selected as part of a new round of provincial high-level universities and discipline construction plan.
Shenzhen has expedited the development of medical and health services.By the end of 2019,there were 4,513 health and medical institutions acros the city and 3,919 new beds were added. Five hospitals were selected into the construction plan of provincial high-level hospitals and four 3A-rated and Grade-3 hospitals were added.Twenty high-level medical teams have been introduced and 49 community healt insttutions have been opened. In adition,72 percent of the city's targeted groups have signed up for family doctor services.
