Internet

Shenzhen is one of the most wired cities in China. You can access Wi-Fi connections at the airport, train stations and most hotels, restaurants and cafes.
Getting Internet for your home is easy as well. There are three major Internet service providers to choose from: China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile. All you need to do is go to one of the office branches with your passport and ask to get your home connected. You can also ask a Chinese-speaking friend to call the provider' s office and schedule a visit to your home. Have a copy of your passport and a copy of a Chinese bank card ready for when the technician arrives. Prices for broadband Internet vary from 50 to 200RMB/month, depending on the bandwidth and the duration of your contract. The larger international bandwidth does not necessarily mean faster speed for international Internet. The speed for the access to websites abroad, like the pricing for their broadband service, may differ by region. Before choosing an Internet service provider, it is recommended to ask local friends for advice.
