Introduction

One of the top universities in the country with a focus on science and engineering, HIT has been ranked No. 6 in the Best Global Universities for Engineering by U.S. News for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019. In 2002, its satellite graduate school was established in the University Town of Shenzhen in collaboration with Peking University and Tsinghua University. Previously a postgraduate-only university, it started to recruit undergraduate students in 2016. Committed to international exchange and collaboration, around 50 percent of the courses are conducted in English, making it the only member of China's elite C9 League universities in Shenzhen that offers a whole set of bachelor's, master' s and Ph.D. programs to both domestic and international students. By 2023, it plans to recruit 10,000 students, 5,500 of whom will be undergraduates, along with 3,500 master's or PhD students and 1,000 international students.
