If you' re looking for a real European experience for dinner or an epic deal on any day of the week, George and Dragon is the place to go. A hidden gem across from the Seaworld Square, this British Pub is filled with history as it's been around for what seems like forever, being one of the oldest Western restaurants in town. It is also a charming place and, for me, a comforting taste of home, as they serve the classics and basics of European cuisine, which brings back lots of memories from prior to China.
The place is cozy and awesome for the whole family, The meals are solid, the hearty the portions are generous and the prices are more than fair, especially if you include the epic deals they offer every day of the week. They' re also very well known for their pig in a box, as they' re the only ones to roast the whole beast on their outdoor BBQ, where they also grill their meats, ribs and more, giving it the awesome summer taste of smoked/charred meat.
The staff is awesome and the restaurant works very much like a well-oiled machine, where the regulars are called by name, and favorite drinks are remembered and served before they find a seat, bringing that family feeling. It makes for awesome dinners, be it for a lonely foreigner looking to feel some warmth as well as for families or extended family (like me, with our team of entrepreneurs and our volunteers group), to gather and share a big, rich and tasty meal.
My favorite here varies from time to time belween the meatloaf, the cordon bleu and the infamous Maggie' s ribs, but their burgers are also worth a mention.
